New Investment for Faster Logistics: Automated Warehouse in Štore Opens Its Doors
Kovintrade d.d. Celje has received the occupancy permit for its new state-of-the-art automated high-bay warehouse in Štore, marking an important milestone in the development of our logistics operations and the further digitalization of our business processes.
Within just one year, a new 18-meter-high high-bay warehouse has been built at the central warehouse complex in Štore. It is among the most technologically advanced logistics facilities in the region. Every year, Kovintrade d.d. handles approximately 200,000 tonnes of metallurgical products through its central warehouse, making the optimization of warehouse processes essential for providing high-quality service to our customers.
To increase handling efficiency and optimize storage capacity, we invested EUR 5.2 million in this new project. The result is a fully automated and robotized warehouse with a storage capacity of 5,000 tonnes and 2,478 storage locations (cassettes), each capable of holding up to 3 tonnes of material.
The warehouse is primarily intended for storing so-called long products, including tubes, beams, round steel bars, and flat steel bars in lengths of 3 and 6 meters.
Advanced technology enables significantly faster and more accurate material handling. The system can process approximately 25 dispatch operations per hour, representing a major improvement over conventional warehouse processes, which often require substantial non-productive material repositioning. Thanks to full automation, only two operators per shift are needed to manage the warehouse.
This new facility will enable even faster deliveries and shorter response times for our customers, while also creating opportunities for further optimization of work processes at the central warehouse.
The warehouse was supplied by the Swiss company FEHR. The entire project, from foundation construction and assembly to commissioning and trial operation, was completed in approximately one year.
The new warehouse is already attracting significant interest and admiration from our business partners and represents an important step toward the future of logistics at Kovintrade.
